The St. John of Damascus Institute of Theology stands as a living testament to the enduring Antiochian Orthodox tradition of faith, spirituality, and learning. Rooted securely in the spiritual embrace of the Patriarchal Monastery of Our Lady of Balamand, our Institute continues the legacy of the historic monastic communities of the Antiochian See, who were not only centers of unceasing prayer and ascetic labor but also vibrant schools where the people of God immersed themselves in the Holy Scriptures and the wisdom of the Fathers.
As we embark upon the academic year 2026-2027, we reaffirm our solemn vocation to serve as a beacon of Christ’s light in the world. The faculty, administration, and student body remain steadfast in drawing inspiration from the pure wellspring of the Apostolic Orthodox Tradition. In the face of contemporary theological, spiritual, and societal challenges, we are called more than ever to articulate the Divine Revelation with clarity, academic rigor, and pastoral love, offering it as a message of hope and life to modern humanity.
Building upon a legacy of over five decades of higher theological education, the Institute continues to elevate its academic horizons. As we navigate a rapidly evolving digital landscape, we are actively embracing instrumental education to enhance our pedagogical approach. By thoughtfully introducing our students to the correct and ethical use of artificial intelligence tools, we ensure these modern technologies serve as valuable instruments for rigorous research and administration, harmonizing with our academic standards rather than replacing the deep, human work of theology. Through this forward-looking integration, alongside the steadfast quality of our undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and e-learning programs, we cultivate clergy and scholars fully equipped for the complexities of today's priestly ministry. Our graduates—following the distinguished example of His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East—serve tirelessly across the Antiochian Archdioceses all over the world. As hierarchs, presbyters, deacons, theologians, and educators, they go forth as fishers of men, tending to the Lord’s vineyard with devotion and grace.
May the Lord our God, through the intercession of our patron, Saint John of Damascus, unceasingly bless our Institute. We pray for the enduring health and guidance of His Beatitude, that he may steadfastly shepherd the work of this institution toward further prosperity for the glory of God’s Holy Church.

ينتصب معهد القدّيس يوحنا الدمشقي اللاهوتيّ شاهداً حياً على التراث الأنطاكيّ الأرثوذكسيّ الراسخ في الإيمان والصلاة والتعليم. وإذ يتجذّر عميقاً في مسيرة دير سيّدة البلمند البطريركيّ عبر التاريخ، يواصل معهدنا إرث الحواضر الرهبانيّة التاريخيّة للكرسي الأنطاكيّ، التي لم تكن مجرّد مراكز للصلاة المتواصلة والجهاد النُسكيّ فحسب، بل كانت أيضاً مدارس ناشطة، نهل فيها شعب الله من معين الكتب المقدّسة وحكمة الآباء.
وفيما نستهلّ العام الدراسي 2026-2027، نجدد التزامنا بدعوتنا السامية لنعكس نور المسيح في هذا العالم. وتبقى أسرة المعهد، من هيئة تعليميّة وإداريّة وجسم طلابيّ، راسخةً في استلهامها من النبع الصافي للتقليد الأرثوذكسيّ الرسوليّ. وفي خضم التحديات اللاهوتيّة والروحيّة والاجتماعيّة المعاصرة، نُدعى اليوم، أكثر من أيّ وقت مضى، للتعبير عن الإعلان الإلهيّ بوضوح وجلاء، وبدقّة أكاديميّة ومحبّة رعائيّة، لنقدّمه رسالة رجاء وحياة لإنسان عصرنا.
وبناءً على إرث يمتدّ لأكثر من خمسة عقود من التعليم اللاهوتيّ العالي، يواصل المعهد الارتقاء بآفاقه الأكاديميّة. وفيما نواكب مشهداً رقميّاً سريع التطوّر، فإنّنا نتبنّى بنشاط "التعليم الأدواتيّ" لتعزيز نهجنا التربويّ. ومن خلال تنشئة طلابنا، بوعي ورويّة، على الاستخدام الصحيح والأخلاقيّ لأدوات الذكاء الاصطناعيّ، نضمن أن تكون هذه التقنيّات الحديثة أدواتٍ طيّعة لخدمة البحث العلميّ الرصين، بما يتناغم مع معاييرنا الأكاديميّة، لا أن تكون بديلاً عن الجهد اللاهوتيّ الإنسانيّ العميق. ومن خلال هذه الرؤية الاستشرافيّة، وإلى جانب الجودة الراسخة لبرامجنا في الإجازة والماستر والدكتوراه والتعليم عن بُعد، نُعِدُّ إكليروساً ودارسين مجهّزين بالكامل للتعامل مع تعقيدات الخدمة الكهنوتيّة المعاصرة. إنّ خريجينا - مقتفين الأثر المشرق لصاحب الغبطة البطريرك يوحنّا العاشر، بطريرك أنطاكية وسائر المشرق - يخدمون بلا كلل في مختلف الأبرشيّات الأنطاكية في جميع أنحاء العالم. وكأساقفة وكهنة وشمامسة ولاهوتيّين ومربين، ينطلقون كصيادين للناس، عاملين في كرم الرب بتفانٍ ونعمة.
نسأل ربّنا وإلهنا ومخلّصنا يسوع المسيح، بشفاعة القّديس يوحنا الدمشقيّ شفيع معهدنا، أن يفيض بركاته الدائمة على هذا الصرح. ونصلي من أجل موفور الصحة والتأييد لصاحب الغبطة، لكي يواصل رعاية مسيرة هذه المؤسّسة بثبات نحو مزيد من الازدهار، لمجد كنيسة الله المقدسة.
